Heavy Duty Transmission Tower

Heavy duty transmission tower, core steel‑structure for high‑voltage to UHV power lines, fabricated from Q355B/Q420 high‑strength steel, suitable for long‑distance power transmission under harsh environmental conditions.

Features

Products Description

Heavy Duty Transmission Tower is the core load-bearing steel structure for high-voltage, extra-high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage overhead transmission lines. Heavy Duty Transmission Tower is mostly constructed as a space-truss lattice angle-steel structure, with main materials adopting high-strength low-alloy steel such as Q355B and Q420B. It is applicable to AC transmission projects of 110kV-1000kV and DC transmission projects of ±800kV and above.

Heavy Duty Transmission Tower is mainly classified into suspension tower, strain tower, angle tower, crossing tower, terminal tower and other types. Designed to support transmission conductors, lightning-protection wires and OPGW optical cables for long-distance electric power transmission, the tower can operate stably for a long time under harsh and complex working-condition environments including plateaus, coastal areas, heavy-ice-covered zones and strong-wind regions.

Products Advantage

High-strength steel of Q355 / Q420 grade, with load-bearing capacity resistant to Grade-10 wind.

Hot-dip galvanized for anti-corrosion treatment, service life ≥ 30 years.

Adopting modular split design, manufactured in sections and assembled by bolts. No on-site welding is required for rapid installation

Designed strictly in accordance with Chinese national load-bearing specifications for high safety and stability.

Products Process

Full‑process production in strict accordance with GB/T 2694-2018 Technical Conditions for Manufacturing of Transmission Line Towers:

  • Raw Material Inspection: Re‑inspect material certificates, mechanical properties and chemical composition of incoming steel.

  • 3‑D Lofting & Blanking: 3‑D modeling and lofting by Tekla and other software, followed by CNC cutting‑off.

  • Hole‑making Processing: Holes are drilled by CNC drilling machines. The precision of hole‑position is strictly controlled to ensure bolt fitting.

  • Welding Procedure: Gas‑shielded welding is adopted for key components such as tower base plates and connection plates, with weld seam inspection by flaw detection.

  • Hot‑dip Galvanizing for Anti‑corrosion: Process flow including pickling, fluxing, hot‑dip galvanizing, cooling and passivation, to meet the required zinc‑coating thickness.

  • Pre‑assembly Test in Factory: Full‑scale trial assembly of the complete tower before delivery to eliminate component mismatching problems.

  • Numbering, Packing & Shipment: Each component is marked with a unique identification number and bundled and packed by category.
