Lightning Tower Protection Range
The protection range of a lightning tower is calculated using the rolling ball method according to national standard GB50057. Its coverage radius is related to tower height and lightning protection level. For example, a 30-meter-tall lightning tower in a Class II lightning protection building has a protection radius of approximately 45 meters. The tower is constructed of steel pipe or angle steel and is adjustable in height from 10 to 200 meters. It has a wind load factor as low as 0.7 and a wind resistance rating of Class 12. Its key advantages include a flange connection structure (bolt tensile strength ≥ 400 MPa), a triangular layout that saves 20% of steel, and a footprint of less than 5 square meters. It is particularly suitable for direct lightning protection in flammable and explosive locations such as refineries and chemical plants.
